So Maddox has had 4 double ear infections since January. Yuck! My doc. thinks it would be a good idea to get tubes, to give Maddox one less place to get an infection. I'd like to see an ENT at Primary's. I was thinking if we need to do the circumcision, tubes, and a sedated echo, we might as well do them all at once? I've talked to our Card. about doing the circ and echo at the same time, but haven't talked to her about the tubes yet. I'd love recommendations for both an ENT and a urologist. Thanks!

We have liked both our ENT and our urologist. Dr. Park (ENT) and Dr. Snow (urology). Both are extremely knowledgeable and competent and they have good bedside manner. I am sure that there are others in both departments who are great too, these are just the two we have worked with.
Good luck!

Gator is also a ear tubes, circ, echo, HLHS baby.... He has his Circ and Echo at one time and then he had his Tubes a little later... We loved Dr. Wallis(urology), he was fantastic with Gator and he talked to me a lot before hand to make sure I was understanding everything.. The Circ only took a few minutes it was the echo that took a longer time. Then when Gator had his tubes placed I barely sat down and they finished and wanted me back... Tubes had no effect on him the next day we went to Lagoon.. The Circ was a little sore but he also bounced back soooo fast we went to Idaho to visit family the next day... "It" is "packed nicely so it doesn't get bumped and then we just made sure to keep up on his pain meds... It was a breeze..... His Ent Doc was Grimmer.. I really liked him as well... I think a lot of people worry that they are doing more surgery to an already sick kid who has had enough... But, from a momma who has seen her share of ear infections and c-diff and hurty bums.. I am so glad we made these decisions. Gator has been so much better, he eats better (something positive I didn't expect) And I don't feel like such a perv for make sure that all things are clean....I would say that in a small way it has been a blessing, keeping us out of the hospital and away from the sickies at the Dr.'s Office.

Nathan has had surgery by Dr. Park for his jaw distractors (2x - plus a another set that just fell out!) 2 sets of ear tubes, and a tonsilectomy that landed him in the ICU for a week (longer than the heart surgery did). We have worked with all of the ENT doctors at PCMC and feel that by far Dr. Park is the best. He treats us with absolute respect and listens to our concerns. Nathan has very serious airway issues and Dr. Park has taken the "team approach" to working on Nathan rather than just thinking he is the only competent dr. at PCMC. He always consults with pulmonary, cardiology, plastics, and the dysphagia team before making a decision on how to help Nathan. Even though the ENT's fix cleft palates, we chose to have plastics fix that problem for Nathan. We were never treated any differently because we opted for another choice besides Dr. Park.
Like I said before - Nathan is one of the most complicated cases that Dr. Park has ever seen. Dr. Park has called me over the phone on 6 different occasions that I can think of off of the top of my head to discuss Nathan's airway obstruction and the problems it is causing for his heart, growth, and overall development. He made a point of calling another Dr. in Minnesota that is supposed to be the experts on kids like Nathan and then called me to discuss what the other doctor had said and what his personal recommendation were. Dr. Park effectionately refers to Nathan as his most interesting case he has seen in the 20 or so years. When we see him in the hall at PCMC for other doctor appointments he ALWAYS calls Nathan by name and asks how how he is doing.
My little girl just had her tonsils out by dr. park last week. When he came to talk to us about her he gave us the same detailed information on our daughter just as he does with Nathan. At the end of the conversation he asked us specifically about Nathan and how we were feeling about our choice of the jaw distraction vs the trach or tongue/lip adhesion. I have never met a more caring, compassionate dr. than Dr. Park.
Wow- that was long winded. Its not that I don't like the other doctors, but they really don't seem to show the same concern or compassion like Dr. Park does.
We've never seen urology. They are the only clinic we haven't been to besides oncology.

Thought I would put my two cents in also. We have Dr. Park also for Ellie's tumor in her neck. He has worked with cardiology before on her case to have heart and tumor stuff done at the same time. I have really liked him and feel that he is the best one. He's confident in what he does, yet humble enough to ask for other opinions like in Ellie's case. It sounds like others feel the same way about him.
Good luck-Becca
