We just joined the group, and I just wanted to say hi, and give a little intro! My name is Jenn and my husband is Darren. We have three children, Kasidee 7, Hunter 4 and Addison 6 mos. When Addison was born we found out that she is Trisomy 21. She has an extra 21st chromosome which means she has Down Syndrome, and because of that extra chromosome there were also some birth defects. She has a complete AV canal (ASD & VSD) heart defect , an imperforate ****, and horrible reflux. She had her first surgery at just 23 hrs for a colostomy and is fed through an NJ tube because of the reflux. We just had our open heart surgery two weeks ago to repair her AV canal, and she is doing GREAT! We had no idea prior to her birth that we would be experiencing any of this. My sister-in-law (Allison Curtis, her son is Ethan with HLHS) is a member of this group and told me what a huge support and resource it has been for her. I look forward to visiting with you and am so glad that this is here. I have a wonderful supportive family, but sometimes it is really hard when you have questions or just want someone who knows to talk with!

We have a family blog site at thegatherumfamily.blogspot.com.

Hi and welcome to the group:)

I know that you will meet lots of great families here who can offer you all the support that you need.

This is just a great group of people here. I had my only O.H.S 35 yrs ago at age 11. So anyway welcome to the group, feel free to ask me anything you want.

I can pretty much remember everything about my surgery just not everything about my multiple defects. lol

Hugs....Teresa
